Creating and Configuring Promotions
Step-by-step guide to create and configure promotions in Sarah.

This guide will teach you how to create and configure promotions in Sarah step by step.
Access to Promotions
- Navigate to Promotions in the main menu
- Click "New Promotion" or the add button
Basic Fields
Name
A descriptive name to easily identify the promotion.
Examples:
- "2x1 on Beverages"
- "20% OFF on Clothing"
- "Burger Combo"
Promotion Type
Select one of the four available types:
- Buy X Get Y
- Discount on Nth
- Percentage Discount
- Fixed Price for Combos
Priority
Number that determines the order of application when there are multiple promotions.
- Higher number = Higher priority
- If two promotions can apply, the one with higher priority is evaluated first
Recommendation: Use numbers like 10, 20, 30 to leave space between priorities.
Active
Checkbox to enable or disable the promotion without deleting it.
Stackable
If checked, this promotion can be combined with other stackable promotions.
If unchecked, this promotion has exclusive priority and can block other promotions.
Configuration by Type
Buy X Get Y
Required fields:
- X: Quantity of products customer must buy
- Y: Quantity of products they get free
Example:
X: 2
Y: 1
Result: Buy 2, get 1 free (2x1)
Discount on Nth
Required fields:
- N: Product position (2 = second, 3 = third, etc.)
- Discount: Percentage discount to apply
Example:
N: 3
Discount: 50%
Result: 3rd product has 50% discount
Percentage Discount
Required fields:
- Percentage: Discount to apply (0-100)
Example:
Percentage: 20
Result: 20% discount on eligible products
Fixed Price for Combos
Required fields:
- Products: List of products that must be in cart
- Fixed Price: Total combo price
Example:
Products: [Burger, Fries, Drink]
Fixed Price: 1500
Result: All 3 products together cost $1500
Target Configuration
Targets define which products the promotion applies to.
Add Targets
- Click "Add Target"
- Select target type:
- All: Applies to any product
- Product: Select a specific product
- Category: Select a category
- Brand: Enter brand name
Multiple Targets
You can add multiple targets. The promotion applies if the product matches any of the targets (OR logic).
Example:
- Target 1: Category "Beverages"
- Target 2: Brand "Premium"
- Result: Applies to beverages OR Premium brand products
Validity Dates
Start Date
Date and time when the promotion begins to be active.
If not specified, the promotion is active from its creation.
End Date
Date and time when the promotion stops being active.
If not specified, the promotion doesn't expire.
Sales Channel
Optionally, you can limit the promotion to a specific channel:
- POS: Only at point of sale
- Online Store: Only on the web store
- All: In all channels
Complete Example: 2x1 Beverages Promotion
- Name: "2x1 on Beverages - Summer 2025"
- Type: Buy X Get Y
- Configuration:
- X: 2
- Y: 1
- Targets:
- Category: "Beverages"
- Priority: 10
- Stackable: No (unchecked)
- Active: Yes
- Dates:
- Start: 2025-01-01 00:00
- End: 2025-03-31 23:59
- Channel: All
Validation and Saving
Before saving, verify:
- ✅ All required fields are complete
- ✅ Numeric values are valid (X > 0, Y >= 0, percentages between 0-100)
- ✅ At least one target is configured
- ✅ Start and end dates are coherent
Click "Save" to create the promotion.
Edit Promotions
To edit an existing promotion:
- Go to the promotions list
- Click the promotion you want to edit
- Modify necessary fields
- Save changes
Note: Changes apply immediately to new sales.
Delete Promotions
- Select the promotion
- Click "Delete"
- Confirm deletion
Warning: Deleted promotions cannot be recovered.
